Christmas is just around the corner, the time of festivities, joy, and happiness. So with that in mind, I decided to collaborate with other travel bloggers to show you beautiful Christmas Markets around the world. I hope it will inspire you to book a trip and visit these cities, experience local culture, try the delicacies and drink a hot beverage while wandering through lit up stalls.

The size & scale of Nuremberg's main Christkindl Market is hard to convey in one photo. They get about 2 million visitors a year & it's one of the oldest & largest in Germany. The day we were there, a mild, sunny Saturday afternoon, we were ill-prepared for the crowds. But instead of being overwhelming, we found great energy as we moved through the 200 or so booths. It was packed with people, but no one was pushing or shoving or rude, just happy to be there & festive. This is the view from balcony of the Church of Our Lady & shows about 1/3 of the main market. There are also several smaller markets, including a children's market & a market featuring booths from Nuremberg's sister cities around the world. On these last few shopping days before Christmas, wishing everyone visiting markets a safe time. 🇩🇪

  1. You’ve listed some great markets here but was a little confused that you slipped Birmingham into it (I’m from Nottingham, not a fan of Birmingham lol) I have a friend who was in Salzburg and her pictures looked like she was walking through a fairytale, I’d love to experience and so many of the others you’ve mentioned. Budapest would be amazing too. Will keep this post in mind for next Christmas if I’m Europe 😀

  2. It’s strange but as much as I am not a fan of the cold I LOVE Christmas markets! They’re so quaint and cute. Of all of them on this list though, I think Nurenberg and York would be my favorite to check out!
