Palace of Rituals (Wedding Palace) Tour in Tbilisi

Step inside one of Tbilisi’s strangest and most fascinating buildings.

The Palace of Rituals, also known as the Wedding Palace, is one of the most recognizable examples of late Soviet architecture in Georgia. Built in the 1980s as a ceremonial wedding venue, the structure combines Georgian religious architecture, Soviet modernism, and symbolism in a way that still feels unusual today.

After being bought by a businessman and turned into private property, the Palace of Rituals remained inaccessible to the public for over a decade. Only a few years ago did the management begin opening the space to visitors again. Access to the premises is limited to organized visits; there are no walk-ins.

Most people only see the building from the outside, but this tour gives you the opportunity to explore the interior and learn the stories behind the building, its architect, the ideas that shaped it, and its current owner.

What to expect from the Palace of Rituals tour

During the visit, we’ll explore the halls and ceremonial space of the Palace of Rituals while discussing:

  • Why was the building created during the Soviet period
  • How traditional Georgian architectural elements were incorporated into the project
  • The symbolism and unusual design details hidden throughout the structure
  • How the building’s role changed after becoming private property

What we’ll see during the Palace of Rituals visit

  • The main ceremonial hall was once used for weddings
  • Three floors of rooms with completely different styles and designs
  • The owner’s private antique furniture collection
  • The beautiful garden area
  • The smaller Arcadia Palace
  • A private vintage car collection

This tour isn’t specifically designed for children, but they are welcome to join. Children under 6 can attend free of charge, while those aged 7–16 receive a 50% discount.

If you’re bringing a stroller, please note that it must remain at the main ceremonial hall before we continue through the garden toward the smaller Arcadia Palace.

Mobility

The Palace has many stairs spread across four floors, followed by a walk through the garden area toward the smaller Arcadia Palace.

If you have mobility concerns, it’s a good idea to keep them in mind before booking the tour.
