Crete

One of the most romantic islands in Greece is definitely Crete. It is also the largest of all Greek islands; therefore, make sure to have enough time for your perfect romantic vacation. The island offers countless attractions to discover, including breathtaking beaches, sleepy mountain villages, historic sites, and wild nature.

Among the most beautiful highlights are the beaches of Balos and Elafonisi, but also the less touristy ones on the east side of the island are fantastic for those who want to swim undisturbed!

Another place to visit is the romantic Venician-style monastery of Agia Triada. From here, take a detour to one of the most beautiful beaches in Crete: The Seitan Limani Beach.

If the hustle and bustle on the coast become too much for you, it is best to retreat to Crete’s mountain villages where you can still enjoy an incredible authentic landscape, perfect for a quiet vacation. Check out the towns of Archanes, Kouses, and the tranquil Anatoli.

Paros

When people think about a romantic getaway on one of the Greek islands, the most common decision comes to Mykonos or Santorini. But one of the great undiscovered and less traveled islands is Paros, situated at the heart of the Aegean Sea.

Beautiful beaches, calming environment, and fewer crowds make it one of the best Greek islands for couples.

And when thinking about where to stay in Paros, Naoussa, in the north of the island and a hub for restaurants and bars is the best option. Also, expect little alleys, beautiful beaches, and a lot of boutiques with locally handmade products and a lot more.

Agistri

There’s no discussion that Greek islands are one of the most attractive destinations for couples. However, what you don’t see on those Instagram pictures is the masses of tourists with whom you have to share the spectacle.

That’s exactly what won’t happen to you on Agistri – a Hidden Gem. The small island near Aegina in the Saronic Gulf is just a short speedboat ferry ride from Athens’ city port of Piraeus. It’s a famous island among locals who come here only on weekends.

On this cozy island, there are only a few towns, little traffic, and few sights. This makes it easy to unwind and enjoy relaxing days on the beach.

The best way to explore the island is to rent a scooter. And more importantly, there are some beaches where you can sometimes be alone.

And to top it off, enjoy the sunset from the beach promenade in Skala at one of the restaurants with seafood or a cocktail in the sand!

Skyros

The sheer number of beautiful Greek islands spoil visitors and expats living in Greece. But one of the best Greek islands for couples looking for a quiet romantic escape, Skyros, should be on the top of any list.

Far from the tourist circuits of the South Aegean, this idyllic island located in the North Sporades targets those looking for a secluded getaway. Here Greek cultures remain well preserved away from holidaymakers’ package tours.

Getting to Skyros is an easy 2-hour drive or bus ride from Athens to Kimis. From Kimis, a 1.30hrs ferry ride to the island that arrives on the eastern side at a port town called Linaria.

For first-time visitors, stay in the Skyros Old Town nestling in a charming cove with whitewashed houses, small narrow streets, and a harbor with local fishermen’s boats bobbing around.

Perched on a hill, a 9th-century Byzantine castle and monetary stands overlooking the town.

If you are looking for a private beach experience, locals and expats consider Agalipa, one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. However, you’ll need to stock their own food, drinks, and supplies. Agalipa is isolated; there are no vendors, bathrooms, or infrastructure. It is a wild beach, only accessible by boat or a 30-minute hike. The reward is a pine tree-shaded beach with fine white sand, clear blue waters, and a stunning lack of people.
