This Eastern European country famous for gorgeous Orthodox Churches, forested mountains, and the Black Sea coast, is an underrated destination for many.
Its capital, Kyiv, also written as Kiev, is home to some of the most fascinating churches including St. Sophia’s Cathedral and St. Andrew’s Church along with Pechersk Lavra, one of the most important pilgrimage sites. The artsy and quirky town of Kyiv has plenty of attractions to keep you busy, including Chernobyl and One Street museums, Landscape Alley park, and so-called House with Chimeras to name just a few.
Odesa, the jewel of the Black Sea, is home to the 19th-century theaters and museums, massive boulevard, famed Potemkin Steps, some of the best beach areas, and an underground labyrinth of the city’s catacombs. The western town of Lviv has a more European vibe and charm compared to other cities of Ukraine. Wander through the streets showcasing some of the best examples of Baroque, Renaissance, and Neoclassical buildings.
