The Social Space in Shekvetili – A Mini Bali on the Black Sea Coast
Shekvetili, the Black Sea coastal town of the Guria region, has a new, incredibly charming space that somewhat mirrors the wellness resort of Southeastern Asia, particularly Bali, Indonesia. At least, that’s what came to mind when I first saw the promotional video for The Social Space in Shekvetili.
A new project of the Black Sea Arena team, The Social Space, is a venue for those who love nature, music and learning new things.
What is The Social Space in Shekvetili exactly?
Located next to the Black Sea Arena and the Musicians Park in Shekvetili, tucked inside the lush greenery, The Social Space is a venue to unite humans with one common goal – sharing experience, knowledge, and care for one another and the environment.

With the belated opening in the summer of 2022 because of the global COVID pandemic, The Social Space in Shekvetili instantly became a go-to place among locals and foreigners who spend days on the Black Sea coast.
This seasonal, eco-friendly venue is full of Eucalyptus fields and tall trees. Everything here is made of wood, bamboo, and straw, including furniture, pots, and lamps, creating a peaceful and harmonious environment.

Spaces within The Social Space in Shekvetili
This massive territory has several different sections to suit various events. With two bars, two dozen tables to enjoy a drink and food, and a stage for late-night events, concerts, and musical performances, there is always something going on at The Social Space in Shekvedili during the day.
Coworking space
The venue has a separate coworking space for those who need to get some work done in an informal environment and be more productive by being closer to nature.

Library
The Social Space has small shelves made from bamboo and straw full of books. You can exchange, borrow, or donate one you’ve read and don’t need anymore.
Concept store
One of the values of The Social Space is to be zero-waste and aims to create eco-friendly, high-quality, and socially practical items that will help the environmental changes. The store presents products made by Georgian designers that are not harmful to the environment or were made with no or little impact on our planet.

What else is there in The Social Space?
Since the primary goal of The Social Space is to highlight the harmonious coexistence of a human with nature, the team organizes various wellness retreat-like sessions, including therapeutic workshops on art, sound, and nature.
Expect various events focused on balance, where one will learn how to find inner harmony, internal stability, calmness, and better manage your body and mind.

The relaxation sessions aimed to take a break from yourself and get to know strangers, as the emotions obtained from human communications drive our growth in life. The event aimed to relax via the sound of music, performances, and cultural experiences with strangers to rediscover oneself.
One more aspect of The Social Space is to revive the thirst for self-knowledge and fill our curious minds with new experiences or learning. For instance, the team organized crafting and herbarium sessions for those interested in these topics.
And lastly, the Social Space encourages young farmers to come and promote their products and farming traditions to the guests of The Social Space.
During the season, they also brought many local and international musicians to perform on their stage.

How to visit The Social Space
The Social Space is located next to the Musicians Park, close to the Black Sea Arena. It’s also marked on Google Maps and is easy to find. Just follow the main trail of the Musicians Park; when you see the fisherman’s house on your right and a birdhouse nailed on the tree to your left, you are in the right direction.
Shekvetili is a 30-minute drive from Kobuleti and around an hour’s drive from Batumi coastal towns. Daily marshrutkas are coming to Shekvetili from nearby cities, so getting here without a car is no problem.

The venue opens late in the afternoon, around 3 pm. If you want to come here in the evening for dinner after 7 pm, you’d need to book a table and deposit a certain amount of money on your balance, which will then be deducted from your final bill. Depending on the table, this deposit varies and starts from 200 GEL.
If you come here before 7 pm, you don’t need to make a table reservation. I honestly think it is the best time to enjoy the scenery and the place’s ambiance.
The Social Spaces has an extensive menu of healthy meals and drinks. The menu offers a wide choice of starters, rolls, nigiri, salads, and desserts.
They serve unique lemonades, milkshakes, and signature cocktails for you to choose from.
