The city couldn’t be more different from its image. It is a vibrant, thriving, beautiful city with friendly locals and lots of great restaurants, cafes, bars, and clubs. It is also relatively cheap to live and eat here. The local currency is Dram in Armenia.

The general cost of living in Armenia is less than 550 USD a month for a single person. The infrastructure is good, and the internet connection works well when it comes to working from Yerevan. There are a lot of cultural activities in the city, including theatre and Opera. Food is simple, varied, and absolutely delicious.

Despite many government changes and war with Azerbaijan, the situation on the ground is very stable.

Guanajuato City in Mexico is one of the best cities for digital nomads for many different reasons. The main one is the low cost of living. You can rent a lovely one-bedroom apartment for as little as 400 USD per month. The cost of groceries is around 25 USD per week, and you can eat out with drinks for less than 10 USD. 

There are so many fun things to do in Guanajuato, from which a lot are either really inexpensive or even free.

San Cristobal de las Casas is considered one of the top destinations in Mexico for digital nomads and for many reasons. 

This unique city boasts a unique colonial feel mixed with the authentic indigenous culture, making this town special. The city has always attracted tourists worldwide, fascinated by the famous local market showcasing the colorful textiles made by the communities in the surrounding valleys.

Tulsa is best known as one of the major cities on Route 66, but it’s so much more than that! Digital nomads have a great opportunity to come and find out.

Phnom Penh, Cambodia

Siem Reap might be considered Cambodia’s central hub for digital nomads, but the capital, Phnom Penh, beats Temple Town in many respects – particularly in terms of affordability. Visiting Phnom Penh for a short period leaves many travelers feeling underwhelmed – but if you allow some time to get to know the city, it’s hard not to fall in love with the rich culture, bustling markets, and lesser-visited neighborhoods. Can’t decide between a city or beach location for your next base? Well, you can find all three on Penang Island, Malaysia! You’ll likely want to stay in the UNESCO World Heritage town of Georgetown, where modern skyscrapers share loom over centuries-old streets. Here, quality apartments can be found for 300-500 USD per month, while a meal at one of Penang’s famous hawker street stalls can run you as little as a dollar. 

If you are tired of the city, hop on a bus and check out one of the many beaches on Penang’s west side. The most famous of these is the gorgeous Monkey Beach, whose white sands can only be reached via a hike through the jungle or via a short boat ride.

In addition to its many attractions, Penang offers several coworking spaces, solid WiFi and infrastructure, and well-connected public transportation. And with an international airport offering connections around the region, Penang makes an excellent base for the digital nomad looking to explore Southeast Asia.
