12 Cozy Cafes in Tbilisi for Cakes, Brunch, Books & Chill
Tbilisi has a fast-growing cafe scene, offering everything from quiet reading spots to lively eateries. Cafes in Tbilisi range from hidden gems tucked away in courtyards to diners housed in former apartments and stylish hangouts with modern design, making Tbilisi’s cafe culture as vibrant and diverse as the city itself.

Over the past decade, Tbilisi has embraced specialty coffee, carefully sourcing and roasting artisanal beans, gourmet baked pastries, and inviting atmospheres that make its cafes more than places to grab a drink.
And with new Tbilisi cafes popping up regularly, choosing where to go can feel overwhelming. Many are designed for lingering, offering comfortable seating, warm lighting, and unique decor.

Some cafes double as bookstores with a peaceful ambiance to get lost in a novel, while others serve delicious Georgian-European fusion dishes perfect for a relaxed lunch or brunch.
This detailed list of some of the best cafes in Tbilisi includes a general list of places to sip, snack, and soak in the city’s unique blend of old-world charm and contemporary vibes that didn’t make into my other, more specific guides of the breakfast spots or specialty coffee shops.
Instead, I provide a curated list of my favorite cafes perfect for recharging during an afternoon stroll, finding a cozy corner to work or read a book, or catching up with friends over a delicious dessert or meal.

Best Cafes in Tbilisi
Praktika
This somewhat hidden place and popular hangout spot among the local student crowd surpasses the typical eatery experience.
Praktika, known as “The People’s Cafe,” has a unique concept. As the name suggests, it aims to be one of the most affordable and cheap cafes in Tbilisi.

It is a self-service venue where you order and pick up your meal at the bar. The prices are remarkably low: meals cost between 8 and 14 GEL, while regular tea and Turkish coffee cost only 1 GEL.
They also serve various coffees, soft and alcoholic drinks, and desserts. The management also changes the menu occasionally, ensuring meals are seasonal and delicious.

The interior items, from tables to chairs, from utensils to tiles adorning the bar, are all donated by locals. They also have shelves with a few sale items to support the venue.
The space is lively in the afternoon, with youngsters playing chess and various other board games. It is also laptop-friendly, so you can catch up on some work. However, it typically gets quite packed in the evenings.

Margaliti Collection
If you’re a cheese lover, the Margaliti Collection at Wine Factory N1 is a spot you don’t want to miss.

Opened in March 2025 on the Melikishvili Street side of the complex, this cafรฉ and deli is the first in Tbilisi to serve cheeses made by the Swiss Agricultural School in Dmanisiโa place I’ve been curious about ever since I heard it existed.
Here, cheese takes center stage. You can order a cheese board with a selection of Georgian Swiss-style cheeses, grab some by weight to take home, or try cheese-forward dishes like the Dmanisi cheesecake and their signature Georgian-four-cheese pizza, also named Dmanisi.

The menu includes a few other Georgian-European fusion dishes, but let’s be honestโI come for the cheese.
Beyond dairy, they sell honey, Gurian teas, and freshly baked artisanal bread from endemic Georgian wheat.
Within its minimalist design, I love the gorgeous wall mosaic based on an illustration by Musya’s Art and brought to life by Ninuka Tsintsadze.
Nilo
This cafe in Tbilisi Old Town is housed in a former apartment with big windows that flood the space with natural light and sun rays.ย

The cafรฉ embraces rustic textures, with exposed brick walls, wooden floors, and antique furniture. The interior is minimalistic, with vintage black-and-white archival photos, a retro tea kettle, a kerosine lamp (reminiscent of my childhood during the “dark 90s” without electricity), still life paintings, and a wall of antique wooden wall clocks.
The second room, with a navy-blue accent wall and plush bench with orange cushions, creates a homey nook feel. You’d want to curl up and read a book while sun rays dance on the room’s surfaces.

Nilo operates from morning to late night, offering a range of meals, such as breakfast staples, starters, main courses, and cocktails for evening hangouts.ย
A charming detail is its vintage vinyl player, still in perfect working condition, filling the space with warm, melodic tunes.
Eari Books
Located in my favorite neighborhood of Sololaki, I occasionally come here for a relaxing cup of coffee after I finish my Sololaki Art-Nouveau Walking Tour.

The small and cozy bookstore, which also serves as a cafe and bar, is a great place to take a break from Tbilisi sightseeing, soak up the ambiance, or even read a book.
The floor-to-ceiling shelves feature a wide selection of vintage, contemporary, and new books in Georgian and English for you to browse while waiting for your order or maybe even grab one as a memorable souvenir from Tbilisi.

The one-page food menu offers a selection of tapas and sandwiches, salads and mixed boards, desserts, and snacks. For drinks, it provides a wide choice of local beer, wines from small and medium-sized wineries, and international spirits.
Cafe Stamba
Since opening its doors a few years back, Cafe Stamba has been a popular local hangout. Its industrial-chic vibe, spacious, airy interior, soft blue and white brick walls, and plush, cream-colored booth seating create a stylish yet inviting atmosphere.

The cafe is part of Stamba Hotel and Adjara Group in general, with plenty of seating arrangements spread out on the ground floor. It also has a terrace, usually quite packed during warm weather, and heaters are provided for colder temperatures.
The ingredients used in their meals are from their regenerative farm in Udabno, around 1:40hrs from Tbilisi, ensuring ethically sourced meat, poultry, nuts, and dairy. Moreover, greens and micro herbs are grown at the Space Farm on the grounds of the same building next to the Warehouse wine bar.
The menu offers a wide range of Georgian and European cuisine-inspired starters, soups, salads, baked pastries, grilled dishes, pasta, and sides. The food is always good, well-prepared, and delicious.
Diner at Radio City
A bold new project by Adjara Group is taking shape in Tbilisi’s Gldani-Mukhiani district, just a 10-minute bus ride from Akhmeteli metro station or a 30-minute drive from the city center.

Designed as a multipurpose space reminiscent of Fabrikaโbut on a much grander scaleโRadio City is set to become one of the city’s most exciting cultural and business hubs.
True to Adjara Group’s signature style, the complex breathes new life into an abandoned industrial site, this time a former radio factory. The group’s largest redevelopment project spans an impressive 12 hectares with three massive buildings.
While much of the space is still under construction, key areas have already opened, offering a glimpse into what’s to come. D Block, one of my favorite co-working spaces, will open by March 2025, followed by creative studios, workshops, and offices for local and international entrepreneurs across 35 industries. The whole transformation of Radio City is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

For now, visitors can experience a taste of what’s in store. A retro-modern diner styled after a classic American eatery but with a sleek contemporary twist, it stands out with its vintage-inspired bar stools and minimalist design.
The menu perfectly blends diner staples and local favoritesโthink juicy burgers, crispy onion rings, mac & cheese, chicken strips alongside Khachapuri, pizza, fresh salads, and hearty soups with ingredients sourced from Adjara Group’s Udabno regenerative farm.
Cafe Mziuri
Lodged in the heart of Mziuri Park, the cafe is a lovely spot in Vake that offers an escape from the city’s noise despite being in a densely populated area. It is ideal for enjoying a cup of your favorite beverage, reading a book, or simply relaxing in nature.

The cafe, featuring an open-air seating area, is a go-to place for locals, especially when spring arrives in Tbilisi and cherry trees bloom. Inside, the space is cozy and welcoming, with wooden furniture and natural light from the floor-to-ceiling windows.
Cafรฉ Mziuri is also a socially responsible space that supports inclusive community initiatives. A portion of its profits goes towards projects for children with disabilities.
The menu offers a variety of meals, such as salads, soups, toast, sandwiches, and cakes. Almost half of the menu is also vegetarian-friendly. Because it is a popular place for families, the menu also has special kids-friendly dishes.
Cafe Mziuri’s Gluewine and hot chocolate are particularly famous among locals to grab on the go and walk through the park’s premises in colder months.
Cafe Leila
In the heart of Tbilisi’s Old Town, Cafรฉ Leila is a vegetarian venue that offers plan-based traditional Georgian food in its Oriental-inspired dรฉcor with ornate stucco carvings and Muqarnas-adorned ceilings.

Founded by Chef Meriko Gubeladze, the person behind the modern Georgian restaurants of Shavi Lomi and Ninia’s Garden, Cafรฉ Leila’s menu reimagines Georgian classics with plant-based ingredients, offering delights like vegetarian Kharcho and Chaqapuli.
It also offers an array of fresh salads, appetizers, soups, and indulgent desserts. For pescatarians, local fresh trout is also available.
Additionally, it’s one of the few places to try the traditional Georgian dessert Orbeliani’s Kaklucha, also known as Royal Candy, developed by Princess Orbeliani.
Lolita
Cafรฉ Lolita is one of Tbilisi’s trendiest spots, known for its spacious outdoor terrace-like seating area designed with raw, urban aesthetics characterized by the open kitchen concept, with a wood-fired oven and exposed ventilation pipes that add a dynamic, metropolitan feel to the venue.

Although it has an indoor seating area, the whole charm of Lolita is its outdoor areas, which are almost always packed no matter the season. However, it is terrific in warmer months.
The geometric black-and-white tiled floor contrasts beautifully with the rustic brick walls, giving the cafรฉ a modern yet vintage character. A mix of woven bistro chairs and sleek tables balances comfort and style.
The casual yet energetic vibe makes it a perfect spot for everything from brunch and coffee breaks to evening gatherings with friends.

The extensive menu offers international dishes, such as burgers and sandwiches, pizzas and pasta, salads, grilled dishes, and desserts. It also has separate late breakfast and cocktail menus.
Like the Cafe Stamba and Diner at Radio City, Lolita is also part of the Adjara Group and a favorite hangout spot among locals, where service and food standards are always high.
Purpur
Purpur is one of the veteran vintage cafes in Tbilisi that reopened its doors to customers after a 5-year break in its original location at Gudiashvili Square.

The cafe has a similar vintage vibe to its former selfโa cozy, bohemian atmosphere with a richly decorated interior of deep red and pastel pink walls adorned with antique mirrors, wall sconces, and ornate details.
Plush seating, intricately patterned tablecloths, fresh flowers on tables, and an eclectic mix of furniture create an intimate setting perfect for a slow afternoon break among the sights of Tbilisi Old Town.
The menu is small and written on a chalkboard, with prices between 16 and 40 GEL. My baked quince with nuts and vanilla cream was quite good.
FIKA Swedish Cafe
FIKA is an authentic Swedish cafe in the Vake neighborhood near Mrgvali Baghi (Round Park). FIKA is a Swedish custom meaning a break from an activity during which people relax, drink coffee, and eat cakes or light snacks.
Opened by half-Georgian (on father’s side and also born here), Anna grew up in รrebro, Sweden, but decided to settle down in Tbilisi in 2024 and bring a little Sweden to Georgia’s capital with her.

The cafe is very atmospheric and features a big mural of a Dalecarlian horse or Dala horse, a traditional carved and painted wooden horse used as a toy for children that became the symbol of Sweden and the Dalarna region it originated from.
Anna’s mom, Hilda, also the artist of that Dala horse mural, bakes cakes and pastries in-house. Once you open the door, the delicious smell and cozy environment greet you instantly.
So, if you are up for a different pastry than what is offered in most bakeries and Tbilisi cafes, come here for the authentic Swedish cinnamon buns, kanelbullar, Semla, the Swedish eclair, or traditional Swedish meatballs, among other things.
Kopines
Kopines is a cake shop and a bakery renowned for its delectable assortment of desserts. Although the space is tiny and mainly serves takeaways, the venue has a small seating area and an outdoor terrace to sit and enjoy a piece of cake with a cup of coffee.

The cakes are also surprising in their variety. Nine different desserts and four American-style cookies are baked fresh in-house.
The New York-style cheesecake is their “queen,” the most demanded item on the menu, and after tasting it myself, I can understand why. It is rich, dense, and ultra-creamy with a velvety smooth and silky texture that melts in your mouthโprecisely what it should be and the best cheesecake in Tbilisi I have tasted.

Kopines’s almond cake is a gluten-free, flourless version in which almost finely ground almonds create the base and are layered with butter-based cream. Besides being quite tasty and unique, I liked the feel of the tiny almond pieces and the balanced sweetness of the cream.
Their honey cake, the Georgian version of the Medovnik that emerged as one of the famous Georgian desserts, is another highlight, praised for its proportional sweetness.
The classic Choux is made from the typical Choux pastry, which is crispier, thinner, lighter, and packed with French-style base cream.
